Sandcastle Challenge 2025

The annual Sandcastle Challenge on the beach of Knokke-Heist is a vibrant family event that has brought young and old together since 1923 for a day full of fun, creativity, and beach enjoyment.

What can you expect at the Sandcastle Challenge?

• Tradition since 1923: A beloved summer event where families and friends gather for a day of teamwork and fun.
• Battle against the sea: Teams of up to 10 participants build the strongest sandcastle, hoping it will withstand the incoming tide.
• Massive participation: Around 1,000 enthusiastic builders join each year – from young children to adults – all with one goal: to become the ultimate sandcastle champion!
• Two categories:
  - Children's category: Teams with a maximum of 2 participants over the age of 14.
  - Adults' category: All other teams.
• Fun for everyone: Even if you're not taking part, it's a fantastic event to watch. The atmosphere is cheerful, the castles are impressive, and the smiling faces make it complete.
