Highlights of the Carnival in Knokke-Heist

Appointment of the Carnival Prince(ss): On Saturday morning, the new carnival prince or princess is officially appointed in the festive tent on Sfeerplein De Bolle. The elected figure receives the official regalia and the key to the town.
Children's Carnival Ball: On Saturday afternoon, a special ball is organised in the festive tent for young revellers. Dressed up children can enjoy music, dancing, and entertainment.
Grand Sunday Parade: On Sunday, an impressive procession of colourful floats and extravagantly dressed groups marches through the streets of Heist. Many participants design and build their own costumes and floats, creating a stunning display.
Sprotjes Day: On Monday evening, Heist celebrates 'sprotjes', a local delicacy. These small fish are prepared and served in various cafés, making for a cosy and delicious evening.
Masked Football Match: On Tuesday afternoon, the traditional match between the ‘Plakkers’ and the ‘Vissers’ takes place. Players appear on the pitch in creative disguises, offering hilarious scenes and great entertainment.
Illuminated Evening Parade: On Tuesday evening, Heist lights up with a magical parade. Floats adorned with thousands of lights create an enchanting atmosphere throughout the town.
Class Parade: During the carnival period, about 25 miniature floats can be admired in the shop windows of Heist. These little artworks, made by local schools, offer a surprising walk through the centre.
